May Lindstrom Review

The one and only May Lindstrom is not just an OG green beauty brand, but a pioneer in the industry. Over a decade later and the line has remained exactly the same except for one new impossibly luxurious body care product and a brief teaser of the perfume oils that May concocts for herself. These 9 May Lindstrom products are wholly about the ingredients within of healing plants, medicinal herbs, spices, mineral salts, and clays. I have seen the brand halt selling one major bestseller for YEARS, because one of the ingredients was no longer up to par with their standards. That product, The Honey Mud, is thankfully back and available.

May Lindstrom skincare is a hyper-luxe green beauty brand of $180 face balms and $160 body oils. It’s a line for people who truly love and appreciate what May has to offer and there is no shortage of them, with The Honey Mud waitlist racking up tens of thousands of hopeful buyers. I’ve never seen May Lindstrom participate in the influencer marketing space – her customers come through word of mouth and  organic social media marketing.

The May Lindstrom line includes just enough products to complete a routine:

1. Cleansing Oil: The Pendulum Potion
2. Cleanser/Mask: The Honey Mud
3. Exfoliant: The Clean Dirt
4. Facial Mist: The Jasmine Garden
5. Facial Serum: The Youth Dew
6. Face Balm: The Blue Cocoon
7. Correcting Mask: The Problem Solver
8. Body and hair oils: The Good Stuff and The Happy Galaxy

My two favorite May Lindstrom products are The Honey Mud and The Good Stuff and The Blue Cocoon would be my third favorite.

May Lindstrom The Honey Mud

Despite having a name with mud, The Honey Mud is actually more of a very thick pudding with a consistency unlike any other. There’s an underlying theme across May Lindstrom’s products of chocolatey decadence. It’s subtle in The Honey Mud but noticeably present. Honey Mud is described as gentle daily cleanser with honey, clay and pure plant oils, but I use this as a face mask not as a cleanser. It’s just too precious to use for the sole purpose of removing gunk off my face – no, that job is for my heavy duty workers like my cleansing oils and foaming gels. The Honey Mud is skin food in its most luxurious form and stays on my skin for as long as possible

May Lindstrom The Problem Solver

This is a purifying face mask that bubbles and fizzes once activated with water, but I found this to be a tad irritating for my skin even though my skin type isn’t even sensitive.

The black-as-the-night mask comes in a generously sized jar with ingredients like raw cacao, activated bamboo charcoal, soil nutrients, salts, and exotic spices.

It’s a targeted treatment with a gourmand spicy chocolate facet, but this is one dessert from May Lindstrom I wouldn’t personally use.

May Lindstrom The Good Stuff

Old me would be gawking at current me fawning over a $160 body oil, but here we are. This is an obsession-worthy body oil (also a hair oil) – BUT I rarely ever mention it anywhere on my blog or social media because, let’s be real, a $160 body oil in this economy doesn’t make much sense.

In May’s defense, I think she doubled the size to 200ml when it used to be available as a 100ml, which is a lot more eco-friendly. My absolute favorite body oil Circle of Protection by Max and Me comes in a 100ml that retails for $80 so it is exactly the same price.

If you’re a gourmand loving r*ch b*tch then you are almost guaranteed to love this oil because there is just nothing else like it. Sight, smell, touch – it envelopes the senses with its mesmerizing golden shimmer, luscious chocolate scent and liquid gold-like feel.

May Lindstrom The Blue Cocoon

Practically every face balm I try in green beauty is a standout. They’re almost always packed with these amazing ingredients, and there’s no room for fillers in face balms, so you already know it’s going to be a concentrated product.

But the reason The Blue Cocoon’s shine has not dulled in the slightest throughout the years is because it has a consistency unlike that of most balms and it is so good for oily/acneic/reactive skin that usually doesn’t do well with occlusive face balms. In fact, The Blue Cocoon is great for these skin types because of how powerfully anti-inflammatory it is.

May Lindstrom The Youth Dew

While this is clearly a beautifully formulated organic face oil, it did not particularly stand out to me. I feel like you would get this product if you love May’s other products and you simply want a cohesive one-brand style routine.

The Youth Dew begins with a base of organic jojoba seed oil and notably contains oils of plum seed, meadow foam seed, tamanu, kukui, sea buckthorn and rosehip. I see these oils often in natural skincare, and while I’m sure May Lindstrom is intense about sourcing only from the best suppliers, using this was not as exciting or unique of an experience as her other products.

Ingredients: *Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Prunus Domestica (Plum) Seed Oil, *Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, *Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, *Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, *Hippophae Rhamnoides (Seabuckthorn) Oil, *Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Seed Oil, *Calophyllum Inophyllum (Tamanu) Seed Oil, Aleurites (Kukui) Moluccanus Seed Oil, *Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, *Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil, *Borago Officinalis (Borage) Seed Oil, *Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium Rose) Oil, *Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, *Citrus Sinensis (Orange) Peel Oil Expressed, *Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, *Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Ubiquinone (Coenzyme Q10), *Citrus Aurantium Amara (Neroli) Flower Oil, Rosa Damascena (Bulgarian Rose) Flower Oil, ***Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil, *Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, +Citral, +Citronellol, +Eugenol, +Farnesol, +Geraniol, +Linalool, +Limonene, +Benzyl Alcohol
