Currentbody LED Light therapy mask

Reviewing Emily in Paris actress Lily Collins’ favorite LED mask by CurrentBody! I’ve used quite a few LED Light Therapy Masks (not all though!) and I love that my CurrentBody mask is slightly more powerful than my others. It combines Red (633nm) and Near-Infrared (830nm) light wavelengths to boost skin’s collagen production. One thing to note is that CurrentBody has only one LED light therapy mode of collagen production and does not feature other colors like green, blue or yellow light. Some of my favorite actresses like Renee Zellweger and Kaley Cuoco also use CurrentBody. Read on for my CurrentBody review and use discount code OBL to save 15% here.

Emily In Paris Lily Collins

Lily Collins wears her mask in season 3 episode 1 of Emily In Paris, the hit Netflix show.

When I use red light therapy regularly I notice more even toned skin that looks slightly “thicker.” I guess you could call it plumper but to me thicker feels like the more appropriate way to describe it.

Red light therapy is actually well studied to provide numerous health benefits and is often used as an integral part of holistic health routines by people who have suffered or are suffering from diseases.

…red/near IR (FR/NIR) laser light (630–1000nm), offers promise as an effective treatment for chronic inflammation and neurodegeneration. One hypothesis to explain the PBM mechanism describes mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase (CcO) as a photoreceptor for FR/NIR light. Absorption of the light by CcO leads to restoration of mitochondrial induction of gene transcription. The outcome of photobiomodulation is the down-regulation of pro-inflammatory processes, up-regulation of anti-inflammatory mechanisms, and restoration of physiology.

Originally developed by NASA scientists, LED Light Therapy is medically recognized and clinically proven with over 40 years of studies done. Not 40 studies, 40 YEARS of studies.

Lght therapy also helps improve immune cells, which is crucial for those dealing with autoimmune disorders. In response to the wavelengths while undergoing red light therapy, cells release pro-inflammatory cytokine TNF-α, and leukocytes (white blood cells) which enter the body’s tissue to promote healing. Red light therapy helps in activating lymphocytes, to boost the movement of epithelial cells, healing wounded areas quickly and increasing cell turnover rates.

The wavelength CurrentBody uses, and that is the standard for LED Light Therapy masks, has been clinically proven to heal and rejuvenate the skin through stimulating collagen and elastin in skin’s dermis layer.

LED Red Light Therapy isn’t just about collagen production and wrinkle reduction though. It also functions as a wound healer, stimulating natural cellular responses for skin repair and healing.

CurrentBody uses a wavelength of 633nm which has been shown to have the most effect on skin cells in studies. My other masks use 630nm.

And since I’m less concerned with acne fighting blue light or skin calming green light, all I really care about is that the red light works.

How Often Should You Use It?

You should do it 5 times a week for 10 minutes. The mask has an automatic timer, and since it’s hands free, you can multi-task during your mask sessions.

With red light I notice an overall rejuvenation effect, especially with regular use of 10 minutes 5 times a week.
