7 Best Organic Sheets for an Eco-Friendly Bed 2023

Posted byAndrea Posted onAugust 15, 2023 Comments0

If you’re on the search for quality organic sheets for your bed, look no further. Investing in organic sheets and bedding free from harsh chemicals and harmful toxins is one of the easiest steps you can make in creating a safe, sustainable and non-toxic bedroom. There’s no shortage of eco-friendly and organic bed sheet brands committed to sustainable practices and certified organic materials. The healthiest bedding material isn’t just about being certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) though — you also want to look for comfort, breathability and texture, which can vary widely. Organic sheets can set you back about $150-$400 for a full set but can last up to 10 years with proper care. Still, I know not everyone can afford that, so I’m also including a very cheap organic sheet brand for families on a tight budget who still want safer products. Read on for the best organic sheets for your bed.

Is Organic Bedding Better?

So you’re wondering whether it’s worth buying organic sheets and what’s wrong with your current sheets. Organic bedding is better in so many different ways:

  • Manufactured without harmful chemicals like pesticides, harsh chemical cleaners and fabric treatments
  • Don’t contain any inks and dyes that may contain heavy metals
  • More comfortable, breathable AND durable
  • Not treated with flame retardants often used in baby and kids products
  • Organic cotton uses less water and produces around 46% less CO2e than conventional cotton
  • Keeps the earth’s soil, air and water used to grow crops free of harmful chemicals

Organic sheets are the healthiest and most environmentally friendly bedding option.

A great option that’s more budget-friendly for organic sheets is Illinois-based organic home brand My Green Mattress. Happsy organic sheet

Happsy Organic Sheet Set

Another fantastic budget-friendly organic sheet product is Happsy’s Organic Sheet Set. The downside is they only come in one color! Happsy is a brand owned by Naturepedic, and they have the expertise and technology to create quality organic products for the more conscious consumer. Happsy sheets have a 300 thread count and are GOTS certified organic with a soft and comfortable feel.

Cozy earth sheets

Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheets

If you want to sleep in the same sheets as Oprah herself (she deemed them the softest ever), then check out Cozy Earth. They’re not made with organic cotton like the rest of the sheets mentioned, but with 100% Viscose from Bamboo. Out of all the sustainable fabrics I’ve tried cotton, linen, hemp, supima cotton, etc – bamboo has been the softest. The downside with bamboo though, is that there’s no organic certification for it, and the processing and manufacturing of bamboo isn’t the cleanest. But man oh man, Cozy Earth sheets are insanely soft.

They’re the epitome of coastal Californian luxury and have been making organic bedding since 1991. You can choose from a wide variety of Organic Percale, Crinkled Percale, Relaxed Sateen, Relaxed Linen and more in a variety of colors. In fact, even my duvet covers, throws and pillows are all Coyuchi. I’m a little obsessed!

White lotus home

White Lotus Home

For organic cotton sateen sheets, check out New Jersey-based White Lotus Home. Their handmade Sateen Sheets are made from 100% USDA-certified organic cotton yarn, and are made locally in New Jersey. The thread count of their organic sheets is a bit lower at 230 Thread Count. If thread count isn’t a priority, White Lotis Home sheets are more breathable and capture less particles.

Amazon organic sheets

Amazon Organic Cotton Sheets (Under $50)

If you’re on a tight budget and can’t shell out hundreds for an organic sheet set, Amazon actually makes their own organic bedding using GOTS organic cotton. A queen set is only $45 for a flat sheet, fitted sheet and two pillowcases. I put them to the test, and while they don’t have quite the same feeling of luxury and quality as the high-end organic sheet brands mentioned above, Amazon’s sheet set is adequate for non-fussy sleepers.
